SUDDEN WEALTH OF THE POOR PEOPLE OF KOMBACH, THE

In the year 1821, seven poor farmers and day laborers from Kombach in Upper Hesse try to rob the "money wagon", that transports the tax money from Biedenkopf to Gießen every month, in order to improve their situation. They fail five times due to their own clumsiness. When they finally succeed, they are quickly arrested, because "it's suspicious when a poor man has money". A documented report titled "The Mail Robbery in Subach", which was put to print in 1825 from the Criminal Secretary Carl Franz, and reprinted by a regional newspaper in 1909, was the main source.
